It's the end of the first trimester of the school year. Thursday was teacher conference day for the Puoci Girls and they all received their first report cards of the year.
Tori is reading at a 9th grade level. Some book recommendations: Eggs by Jerry Spinelli, No Talking by Andrew Clements. She has also recently gone back to her favorites My Side of the Mountain by Jean George and Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls.
Annie and Julie received their first report cards and are doing very well. Math Wizards!! They have mastered their addition facts, are fast with their subtraction facts and they even know the 9 times tables up through 11! They are both in the 2nd grade reading group and they love to write stories. Mom loves their daily journals.
Tori is in PAL (Peer Assistance Leadership) This team of 5th and 6th grade leaders organize school spirit days, make posters, keep their school clean and are role models for the entire school. Tori is applying to be an off track tutor for January. She enjoys helping with Ms. Putz' class.
A and J are in different classes but spend a lot of time together in reading groups as well as on the playground. They've made loads of friends, are the tallest in their classes and enjoy several hand clapping games; teaching Mom, Nonna and Grandma new ones practically on a weekly bases. Do you know Lemonade, DoubleDouble, MailmanMailman, Alligator, Silly People?
Annie's book recommendations: I Aint Gonna Paint No More by Karen Beaumont and Monster Jam: The Amazing Guide [to monster trucks] Check out pages 34 and 35. It is about a Spiderman Truck.
Julie's book recommendations: Fancy Nancy books by and Eloise books. She also picked up Pinkalicious by Victoria and Elizabeth Kann at the book fair. Annie picked up Special Delivery, a Wow Wow Wubbzy book, from the fair.
And keeping with the theme: Mom's book recommendations: The Twilight series... ya ya... she's a trend follower but they are very good. Mom also read Eggs at Tori's recommendation and loved it. She is looking forward to reading No Talking.
And Livi's recommendation: Pat the Bunny: Sleepy Bunny. Thank you Aunties Nicole and Sabine. Livi reads her book everyday when she is in her playpen. Soon she will also enjoy it's bookmark, sucking on it so that she can savor every part of the story.
Do you have any book recommendations for the Puoci Girls? We would love to have them.

I got a couple books for my birthday, and starting reading lastnight. First is the new Nicholas Sparks book (yes the person who wrote the Notebook, and of which I've read every one of his books. I'm a sap and I don't care I love his writing!) Second is DEWEY, which is a very Marley & Me-ish book, about a cat in a library. C'mon the cat's name is Dewey Readmore Books, how great is that? I'm only on like the 3rd chapter and have teared up and LOL'd a couple times. The back warns of a 5 hankie ending, GREAT. Just a couple suggestion for whomever. :D
